  - learn more about your professors' research interests
  - get insight from older students
  - make study buddies
  - make good jokes
  - give the SPSS some feedback regarding what you'd like to see this year
  - eat some good ol' crackers and cheese

Members and non-members are welcome.

Call for Tutors

The SPSS is calling for psych tutors to put into a listing for this website. We have received specific requests for PSY 233 and PSY 315 tutors. Please email us at spss.info@usask.ca with your name, courses you could tutor, grades in those courses (or a grade range is fine too, for example, 80-85), and rates.

First Stats Study Session

Great news! The SPSS is hosting a group study session for PSY 233 (statistics) next week.

Tuesday September 27th
11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Arts 48
SPSS members only (you can buy a membership at the session for $10)

This is an opportunity for psych students to get together, help each other out, and get a bit of guidance from SPSS executive members who have already successfully completed this course. We will hopefully be running these sessions on a weekly/bi-weekly basis. Bring you calculators, notes, assignments, etc.

Grad School Powerpoint Slides Up

For those of you who are considering grad school, the SPSS just put up a new page that contains an entire powerpoint with advice on how to get in! It was prepared by last year's executive and some other people, so thanks to them!

Visit the page here.

Advising Flowcharts

These may be the most useful tools for planning out your undergraduate degree. And just some advice:
- take your stats in 2nd year! If you don't, you will take longer to complete your degree (i.e., > 4 years)
- work backwards from what you know you need to take your last year, especially if you are considering the honours degree
- take classes that allow you flexibility in choosing courses down the road (i.e., choose a variety of 2nd year courses, or choose courses that are prerequisites for multiple 3rd year classes)
- download the undergraduate advising handbook. Read it, know it, love it.
